Project Genesis

Project Genesis is a major affirmative Action Programme designed by Infosys BPO. The Project has been a huge success in Anhdhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra and is being implemented in Orissa with success stories scripted in increasing numbers.

The Mission

To generate employable graduates by giving them worldclass training in soft Skills. Eligible graduating students can then be hired by the BPO Sector, IT and ITeS, aviation, hospitality and other sectors through campus recruitment.

The Format of the Training Programme

Project Genesis training materials follow the Global Skills Enhancement curriculum and comprises training in Language Enhancement Skills (English), and Analytical Ability Skills.

It is a 100-hour module, 50 hours each for communication and analytical skills. Faculty members, trained by Infosys, conduct the training classes. Students learn the soft skills by performing, practicing and producing. Multimedia and interactive tools are used to simulate actual situations. Study materials, as designed by Infosys, are presented, understood and turned into actual performance by the trainees in the classroom used for the purpose. The prescribed size of a batch is between 15 and 25. The course fee is Rs.600/- per student, with a support of the same amount from the Government.

Status Report

A batch of 17 students is currently being trained in the college. An induction ceremony was held on 14 August 2008. The concept and the format were explained, study and other materials distributed.

A three-hour session is held every working day from 9 am to 12 am. Language class alternating with Analytical class. Actual training started from 18 August, and the programme will be over the third week of September. Progress has been satisfactory, going by attendance, and feedback from participants for each session.
